We won't ask you your age but how long have you been a Melbourne supporter?
Almost 35 years. How did you become a Melbourne supporter? I moved to the eastern suburbs late in Grade 2 after growing up in country towns in Qld and NSW. I “chose” Collingwood as my team since Dad “encouraged” it (Mum is a Tiger and lost the battle). 22 of 26 kids in my class went for the Demons, and after being a Magpie for one week, the Dees won the semi-final so I jumped ship before my teeth started falling out! How long have you been in the cheer squad? And what made you decide to join? 5 or so years now. My daughter, Kaylee, and I signed up after chatting to some of the DA at the Fed Square sausage sizzle on Queens Birthday, and it seemed like a great way to be more involved. Favourite current player? Sinead Goldrick and Lily Mithen; Angus Brayshaw :( and Jack Viney Favourite Melbourne player ever? Shane Woewodin Favourite game? 2021 Premiership - despite the fact that I was at home, doing balloon angels alone on my lounge room floor celebrating afterwards! Greatest player you ever saw? This can be from any club. Erin Phillips Highest point in your footballing career Attending the 2022 Season 7 AFLW Premiership in Springfield and celebrating with the DA and the players afterwards Lowest point in your footballing career Watching the 2018 West Coast preliminary final alone in a hotel room in Qatar on my phone, sobbing, and with no access to alcohol! Any football superstitions? Always wear red undies! Craziest thing you've ever done for the Dees? Getting into the 2000 Grand Final with my awesome mate Rach, with no tickets to our name. Holding up a sign begging for 2 tickets, we scored a MCC ladies pass for 1 of us to get in. I went through, then got a pass out, which I gave to Rach. I then cried and told the gate guy I lost my pass out and to please let me back in with no ticket… which he did, so then we both got in on one ticket, and sat together in the MCC at our first Grand Final! |
