Meet our Members - Andrew (Skippy)
We won't ask you your age but how long have you been a Melbourne supporter?
Many, many years! It's probably 45 years. How did you become a Melbourne supporter? Not really sure, to be honest. My mother followed the Dees and mums are always right so maybe that’s why! How long have you been in the cheer squad? And what made you decide to join? I've been a cheer squad members for 30+ years. I joined to be part of a team and help contribute, as many others do. Favourite current player? Anyone who knows me knows the answer to this. I absolutely love Steven May! Favourite Melbourne player ever? If I look across my entire football life, I would have to say The Ox. Favourite game? 2021 Grand Final, the only Grand Final win I've seen in my lifetime.....so far! Greatest player you ever saw? This can be from any club. I have two - Jim Stynes and Ronald Dale Barassi Highest point in your footballing career One of my highest points would be the whole King's Birthday experience. Running the BBQ and raising much needed funds for Fight MND is huge. I look forward to it every year. Lowest point in your footballing career Quite a few in the dark old days. Ask me again when Steven May retires. Any football superstitions? When I go out on to the ground to assist with banners duties, I always request the No 1 pass. Craziest thing you've ever done for the Dees? Not sure if falls under this category but standing in the rain with only two other people watching the boys train while it was blowing a gale. It felt like 2 degrees! |
