Meet our Members - Brad
e won't ask you your age but how long have you been a Melbourne supporter?
40ish years. How did you become a Melbourne supporter? My cousins made me Collingwood. I chose Melbourne because I liked the colours and no-one at school barracked for them. How long have you been in the cheer squad? And what made you decide to join? 15-20 years. Daughter Emily and I sat next to cheer squad bay for a few years and were invited in to sit. Joined up the year after and never left. Enjoyed the involvement in the early days, darker days, when was very tight for member numbers. Everyone had their part to play. Favourite current player? Clayton Oliver, some may even say my son Oliver's namesake. Favourite Melbourne player ever? Brad Miller Favourite game? First ever Darwin game in 2010 against Port. We were on the same flight as team. Poor Bails (Dean Bailey) had 4 hours of chatting to daughter Emily. She was the mascot and ran out with Miller at the game. We won by a point! Emily was 10 at the time and rang into SEN on the Monday telling Ox (David Schwarz) all about it. Greatest player ever? This can be from any club. Dusty in his day! The don't argue! And he could just turn a game in minutes. What coulda been in 2009 at the Dees ... Highest point in your footballing career Bittersweet 2021 Melbourne v Bulldogs GF. Family is Bulldogs, we were in the papers, on tv as the split footy family. Bittersweet, we won, but lockdown keep us out of Perth and the true experience of a Grand Final win. Lowest point in your footballing career RD19 2011. 186 reasons to still dislike playing in Geelong Any football superstitions? Definitely where I sit, my seat. Secondly, when I did banner on the ground, high fiving Goody when he walked around banner. Never lost a game. Craziest thing you've ever done for the Dees. Two Perth games in 3 weeks, one was done as a day trip! Was a regular season game we won and a prelim we lost. One of the more stressful craziest things, being trusted to fly the banner to Queensland and thinking the boys would be running out to nothing because I lost it. |
