We won't ask you your age but how long have you been a Melbourne supporter?
Since the day I was born, don’t mind my age being told just over 40 years. How did you become a Melbourne supporter? Born into it. On dad's side of the family there are at least 3 generations, on mum's side 5 generations, with some Galvin Melbourne supporters who were born in the 1800s! Mum and Dad met on a cheer squad bus trip to Sydney in the early 80s. Ironically I first met my now husband in person on our road trip to Perth for the 2018 Prelim. How long have you been in the cheer squad? And what made you decide to join? Other than a bit of a time where I sat with my family somewhere else for a few years, most of my life. After being in it as a baby/kid/teen I re-joined again the season of 2013 after meeting Suzanne in the photobooth at the family day. Favourite current player? Kozzy and May Favourite Melbourne player ever? Brett Lovett Favourite game? Favourite game in person was that come back win against Fremantle otherwise obviously the grand final. Greatest player ever? This can be from any club. As a kid I didn’t care enough about non demons to appreciate what Garry Ablett or Wayne Carey could do, so Gary Ablett Jr. Highest point in your footballing career Finally breaking the premiership drought, or second making finals again in 2018 after a decade of mucking around. Lowest point in your footballing career Up until that point in my life, the most stressful and upsetting time for 12 year old Jade was that horrid proposed merger malarkey. Then in 2012/13 era I did think I might lose my club again, with some other stresses in life re-joining the cheer squad at that time probably kept me going. Any football superstitions? As a teenager I replaced my relatively expensive camera and gave the old one to my sister because whenever I took it to a game we got smashed. The “singing the song early” can’t be too early (Ryan has pushed my buttons once or twice lol, Dustin suggested it one day with 5 minutes to go and only 3 goals up and I threatened to make him walk home if we lost, we won so we will never know haha). Craziest thing you've ever done for the Dees. Where do we start? 😂 There are many, and the way I dress sometimes isn’t even in the top 3. In no particular order the top 3 would be: 1. Travelling interstate over the years is one thing. But organising a road trip on a week's notice across the Nullarbor was pretty crazy. 2. That time Jack Viney was suspended for a lovely bump and we did a protest at AFL House. 3. Quite literally had a “demon wedding”, red and blue flowers, décor, and bridal party clothes. Shout out to Steven May for giving the groom a Melbourne tie, Russell Robinson's amazing music entertainment and of course the Demon Army for our run-through banner! |
