Meet our Members - Sylvia
We won't ask you your age but how long have you been a Melbourne supporter?
I’m 73 followed the Dees since around 1960. How did you become a Melbourne supporter? My dad was a Melbourne supporter and my mum, South Melbourne but she started taking me to Melbourne games. How long have you been in the cheer squad? And what made you decide to join? I think I joined the Cheer Squad around 1990, have always hated sitting with opposition supporters Favourite current player? I love them all, but it’s Gawny and before him, Jonesy, Favourite Melbourne player ever? it’s a hard one. I think it changed over the years. Barassi was up there, I was devastated when he left. Favourite game? I was at the 1964 Grand Final but can’t remember much, so it has to be 2021 Grand Final, even though we couldn’t be there. Greatest player ever? This can be from any club. Robbie Flower Highest point in your footballing career Highest point and lowest are the same. Going to Perth in 2018, the build up was so exciting. The game was heartbreaking. Any football superstitions? I'm not really superstitious but I wear one red sock and one blue sock every week. Craziest thing you've ever done for the Dees. Crazy is probably not a word you use to describe me, but going to Perth on short notice for the final in 2018 was probably the craziest. It was a bit scary but one of my Demon Army friends organised for another member to look after me and they did a great job. (Thanks - Russell and Kimberley.) |
