Just about every major airport will have flights to the Gold Coast. And if the flights into Coolangatta are too expensive, you can sometimes get a cheap flight into Brisbane and then it's just a train ride to the Gold Coast. Once you fly into the Gold Coast, the easiest option is getting a taxi or an Uber but it's not the cheapest. Coolangatta is 24km from Surfers Paradise, which is about a 40 min drive. That's about $60 in an Uber. There are far cheaper options on public transport but you'll need a combination of trains, trams or buses. Click this link to view your options. TIP FROM THE LOCALS Uber Rideshare have some very cheap car hire options. People park their share cars on the service road on Coolangatta Road in Bilinga, which is just a 10 min walk from the terminal. You can often get two days of car hire for under $100, if you're happy driving an older car for a day or two. HEADING TO THE GROUND Parking is a nightmare at this ground i.e. they don't have any but they do have a good bus transfer system. The locals tend to get to Nerang and then get a bus. The shuttle buses go from the eastern side of Nerang station (beware of Nerang-utans!) If you're staying in Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach, hop on the tram to Broadbeach South Station and the shuttle bus will pick you up from there. The AFL venue page suggests walking to the stadium is 2.4km from Nerang. We would suggest checking the weather before taking this option as some of the weather extremes will have you sweating or drowning before you even get to the ground. Passengers with a match ticket travel free with TransLink to and from the event on scheduled Surfside bus, Queensland Rail and G:link services. WHERE WE SIT As the away team, we sit behind the goals in the outer in Aisle 148. Please note, there is no shelter in this area. We are totally in the open so be prepared for wet weather or fierce sun. WHERE WE STAY There are no shortage of accommodation options in the area. If you like the craziness of Surfers Paradise, everything is close by and you can party all weekend. If you're after a more peaceful option with great food and beachside bars, maybe Broadbeach is a better option.
