Our People
It takes a surprising amount of work to run a cheer squad and we are fortunate to have some amazingly dedicated volunteers who keep the group running. Unlike many other AFL cheer squads, we are virtually self-sufficient and self-managed. This is thanks to the trust placed in us by the MFC and the pride we take in representing our club.
So who are the people who keep this group running?

Our Coordinators
Ryan Sinclair
It takes a special sort of person/lunatic to stand up and cheer when your team is 10 goals down and it's pouring with rain. That person is Ryan Sinclair. You'll find him at every single game, no matter where. (Yup, even that exhibition match they played in China). Ryan is the lone Melbourne supporter in his family. In his other life, Ryan manages a promotion company called Slater & Swann. Sophie Galer
In charge of words and dollars, Sophie takes her skills with organisation, lists and budgets and does all the boring behind-the-scenes business stuff. She is also responsible for deciding what goes on the banner each week and writes the weekly email. Like Ryan, she is the only Melbourne supporter in her family, with the rest of her folks choosing to follow far more successful teams when they moved to Australia from the UK. Sophie works at the City of Melbourne and she is proud mum to a little boy who has inherited her love of the Dees. Suzanne Considine
Suzanne makes sure everything runs smoothly on match day and also controls the bulk of The Demon Army's social media. In a past life, Suz was a Richmond supporter and only followed the Dees to keep her husband and kids company. How ironic that she ended up being the most fanatical, travelling across the country for every game. By day, Suzanne is a pharmacist and is always armed with Band-Aids and Panadol for when the Dees are giving us headaches! |
Our Match Day Team
These fabulous Demons are the ones arriving at the ground before the gates open, putting the banner on the poles, setting up all the equipment, handing out tickets or merchandise and dealing with all those little match day queries. And when everyone has left the ground, they're the ones packing up, stripping the poles and being perpetually told to hurry up by security. Mitch, Suzanne, Ryan, Claire, Tom, Kylie S, John, Renate, Janet and Dylan - take a bow!
Our Ticketing Team
If you've ever had to get tickets for an interstate match or if you've endured countless battles with Ticketek or Ticketmaster, you'll probably dealt with one of these lovely ladies.
Sophie, Beth, Rachel, Amy, Janet and Mandy have put in countless hours over the years to ensure we get as many people in our seats as possible. For many people, QR codes and electronic tickets have been a completely baffling experience but this gang has worked tirelessly to take bookings, allocate seats and ensure that no one is left behind.
In 2021, our ticketing team were recognised by the AFL Fans Association for their hard work ensuring members could access tickets during Covid. Click here for the full story.

Our Run Through Crew
These dedicated Demons work like absolute...well, Demons to ensure there is a banner for every game. Sophie, Tom, Beth, Skippy, Chris, John, Renate and Mario are there every Thursday night without fail. And in 2022 that ended up being over 50 banners, thanks to two AFLW seasons on either end of the mens. We're always happy to add more people to our banner brigade so head over to our run through page to find out how you can get involved.
Our Fundraising Team
Head over to our First Goalkicker page to see how much work goes into the weekly fundraiser. Our tenacious team of cash collectors (Rhiannon and Deb) and the administrative brilliance of Beth and Lauren combine to ensure we raise enough money to keep us running, cover our player sponsorship and still have enough to make some decent contributions to charity.
Our BBQ Brigade
Turn up to any finals training session and you'll see the Demon Army BBQ doing a roaring trade, Thanks to Skippy, John, Renate, Mary, Mario and Annie who regularly put their hands up to coordinate and run these BBQs.
Merchandise Team
These are the people heading to the post office every week and lifting tubs of t-shirts and gear to the ground each week. They're the ones standing at the back of the bay, giving out tickets, selling Fight MND beanies and ensuring all members get their members gear. Thanks to Mandy, Sophie, Janet, Janya, Kylie W, Deb, Lisa and Kaylee for all your assistance. And yes, we will be calling your services again this year!
Our Flag Fellas
OK, you might be thinking "Big deal, these guys wave flags" but dig a little deeper and you'll find out what a group of legends these three are. Dylan, Cooper and Isaiah are good mates but they choose not to sit next to each other, just so their big flags can be spaced out and have the most visual impact behind the goals. And yes, they watch the replays to check we look OK. Cheers, guys!
If anyone would like to wave a big or medium flag, see Dylan before the game.
