Ticketing FAQ
We've tried to pull together the most frequently asked questions we receive and combined them with the areas our ticketing team have the most difficulty with. Hopefully this will provide you with some answers and reduce the amount of stress caused by this process.
HOW DO WE GET INTERSTATE TICKETS?
Interstate tickets are available to all Demon Army members. If we have any left over, we'll open them up to any Melbourne supporter. Visit our match day ticketing page to see the price of all our interstate tickets. If you have any queries, email [email protected],
CAN I BOOK TICKETS FOR A MELBOURNE SUPPORTER WHO ISN'T A DEMON ARMY MEMBER?
Demon Army members have priority access to our interstate tickets. You will need to purchase the tickets for the Demon Army member(s) first and email Ticketing with the number of additional tickets you are chasing. If we have any left over, we'll open them up to any Melbourne supporter, after first contacting those on the wait list.
CAN OPPOSITION SUPPORTERS SIT WITH THE DEMON ARMY?
This is a hard ABSOLUTELY not. One of the few guarantees with cheer squad membership is you'll get to sit with other Melbourne supporters. It doesn't matter if your Richmond-supporting mate is incredibly funny, sweet and gentle, and promises not cheer for Richmond. They're not allowed to be in our area, and nothing moves faster than an irate Demon granny, huffing and puffing towards Security (or our co-ordinators) to complain about an opposition supporter in our area. They will be removed from the area post-haste and no refunds will be provided if you were silly enough to purchase them a ticket.
WHY DOES THE DEMON ARMY NEED A TICKETING TEAM?
Time for a Demon Army boast! We are the only cheer squad to do all our own ticketing (to the extent that we do) - including expressions of interest for interstate and highly sought after games, both home and away ticket sales, seat allocation, distribution of the individual tickets in the 100s regularly, and dealing with the high volume of enquiries. Times the regular season work tenfold when we make the finals! The Demon Army use TryBooking to handle all EOI, then sales, then we place the order with the Melbourne Football Club who deal directly with the venue/opposition club. The tickets are sent to us and we allocate these tickets to the individual contact per ticket. Our very own "Ticket Masters" are a group of 5 professional women who just happen to be experts in spreadsheets and lists, and knowing our members seating preferences off by heart. Thank you to Amy, Rachel, Mandy, Beth and Sophie for taking volunteering to a whole new level.
why has getting tickets become such hard work?
For the same reason that the club's membership base has grown exponentially since 2021 - people are more inclined to purchase a Demon Army add-on when it means attending the matches of a team that is playing well. When we have a cheer squad membership base that is currently sitting at over 900 people, this number of people doesn't fit into the a ticket allocation at the highly sought after matches of 250 tickets.
This is another area where our Ticket Masters have their work cut out for them; recognising those members who not only add the Demon Army membership to their club membership package, but also contribute in other ways. For example, by volunteering to help at our fundraising events, assisting in making the run-through, actually showing up and cheering at games, helping pack up after the match is over (win, lose or draw!), travelling interstate, and participating in our first goal kicker fundraiser. Those members that engage with the Demon Army in these, and other ways, will be given priority over someone not seen any other time, when we have a limited allocation. If you'd like to help but don't know where to start, please do get in touch! We welcome all with open arms; will stick a flag in your hand and introduce you to the person you're sitting next to, and you'll be part of the gang by the end of the first quarter.

WHAT PRICE ARE THE TICKETS?
Ticket prices range from $30-$60 + a 50c booking fee for an adult ticket, depending on the ground. If the Demon Army ticket allocation has been exhausted, you can purchase a ticket close to our area on Ticketmaster or Ticketek (to see where we generally sit at each ground click here) and we will endeavour to fit as many people in with us as possible. We are all about filling grounds with loudly cheering people decked out in red and blue.
WHO DETERMINES THE PRICES FOR INTERSTATE TICKETS?
The home team aka not us! We are at the mercy of the opposition club when it comes to pricing and some have no problem gouging us. We hear you - it's unfair and when you've likely forked out for flights and accommodation as well, it may well be the straw that broke your bank account's back. We don't make anything on the tickets we are allocating; in fact.. most of the time we don't even break even when TryBooking fees are added.
WHY DO WE SOMETIMES HAVE TO PAY EXTRA FOR SEATS AT MARVEL?
Here's the lowdown on Marvel tickets. Cheer Squads are allocated 200 seats at the MCG and Marvel for ticketed matches. We have 950+ members, which doesn't take a mathematical genius to deduce is not a great equation. To maximise the number of members we can accommodate, we buy the extra 98 seats in the bay behind the goals. This means fewer Demons fans are forced to sit in the nosebleed seats on Level 3. We then divide the cost of these extra tickets between the whole group, meaning you can have a reserved seat at ground level for $5, plus the 50c TryBooking fee.
Don't worry too much about this in 2023. Our only game at Marvel is against St Kilda and they're usually very generous with their ground level general admission seating, which may be their only redeeming quality.

INTERSTATE MEMBERS: HOW DO I REDEEM MY FREE TICKET TO THE GAME IN MY STATE?
If you're based outside of Melbourne and add the Demon Army membership, then first of all, we love you! But you'll also know that you're entitled to a free ticket to a match played in your state. Never fear! This incentive doesn't negate your ability to sit with the Demon Army. The Ticket Masters make it easy for you (which frankly, has become our mission statement). When the Expressions of Interest link is made available (via our newsletter. Sign up here if you're not already on the list!) where there will be a ticket type for those wanting to redeem their free ticket. You select this and provide the requested information, which we then crosscheck with the club. Then when it comes time to actually purchase tickets, the Demon Army purchase your ticket and the club reimburse us. Don't worry if you want to sit with others who aren't redeeming a free ticket, because the Ticket Masters work their magic by producing a seating plan to meet everyone's requests. We accept thanks in the form of chocolate.
When can i buy tickets?
We know that when you've bought flights and booked accommodation, you want to ensure you've locked in your match tickets. Unfortunately, much like with the prices, we don't have a lot of control in this area. So long as you are signed up to the newsletter, and follow our social media, you won't miss out on registering for tickets. For interstate and highly sought after games, the link to express your interest in purchasing tickets will go out many weeks in advance. We will always let you know within 48 hours if there are any issues with the people you've lodged an EOI for, so beyond that, you can be sure you're getting your requested tickets. There have been times where we've not been provided with the actual tickets until 3 days before match, that we then need to allocate to all the ticketholders, which we understand can be quite stressful. We do our best to minimise this stress by being overly forthcoming with information via all our social media channels and of course, the ever important newsletter.
